| 4. What is a registrar
and how do I know which one registered my domain name?
A registrar, like Network Solutions,
is a company accredited by ICANN (Internet Corporation for
Assigned Names and Numbers) to register, manage and keep
track of domain names. All domain names are registered via
a registrar.
When transferring your domain
name to NetHere, your registrar needs to make changes to
your domain name server (DNS) records, so that those who
browse to your website will be directed to the proper place,
your account hosted on NetHere’s servers. If your domain
name is registered with Network Solutions, you may follow
the instructions outlined in this FAQ section for Network
Solutions domain name transfers. You’ll see that NetHere
automatically instigates the transfer for you when you place
your order. All you have to do is approve the transfer by
responding positively to an email Network Solutions will
send you! If your domain name is registered with a different
registrar, you may follow the instructions outlined in this
FAQ section for alternative registrars. Additionally,
our technical support staff can help you transfer your domain
name. Simple instructions specific to your registrar will
automatically be sent to you when we setup your hosting
account.
You may find out the registrar
for your domain name byclicking this link and typing your
