| How do
I choose the right web hosting plan?
You may host any type of site
in any of our plans (Web Builder, FP Builder, Enterprise
or Omega). We provide you with web hosting plans of
various user levels and sizes to choose from, and your choice
should be based largely on the following three factors.
- Disk space
- Data transfer
- Website content
- What program you used to
develop your web site/how you intend to upload and make
changes to your web site.
1. Disk space refers to
the overall amount of space that your site will occupy on
our server. It is measured in MB (Megabytes).
2. Data transfer is
also measured in MB and is generated every time someone
visits a page (or downloads a file) on your site. Thus it
is a cumulative statistic. Transfer is measured in MB per
month and depends on the number of people that visit your
site and the size of the files on your Website that are
being viewed. The more viewers, the higher the transfer.
The more complicated your Website, the more transfer per
viewer.
If you are unsure of the two
factors above, then you might want to start out with one
of our basic plans (Web Builder or FP Builder), which offer
100MB of disk space and transfer (more than enough for the
majority of web sites). The choice between these two
packages is dependent upon your web sites content, how you
developed it and what program you intend to upload and make
changes to your website with.
3. For basic, no frills
web sites with simple hit counters, form mail or a guest
book on them, choose one of our basic packages, Web Builder
or FP Builder. For sites that will include streaming
video, audio, or a relational data base, the Enterprise
package may be the right choice for you. For large
corporate web sites that will require more support, please
check out our Omega Package.
4. If you use FrontPage
to develop your web site and wish to upload your web site
with the publish feature of FrontPage, then choose FP Builder,
Enterprise (on NT), or our Omega package (on NT).
If you plan on using one of the many other web site design
software packages to develop your site and using an ftp
program to upload, then choose our Web Builder, Enterprise
(on Unix) or our Omega package (on Unix).
