PGP Freeware Version 6.5.8 Installation Part 1


Requirements/Assumptions
These instructions are for Windows 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000 & Windows XP
We are making the Assumption that this is the first time you have
installed PGP. If you need to download PGP, you can get it here.

1. Launch the PGP installer. Click Next




2. Enter your first and last name. A company name is optional. Click Next




3. Choose a destination to install PGP. Click Next.




4. Leave the default items checked. Click next.




5. Click Next to begin installation




6. After installation, you will be asked if you have any existing keys.
   For this example, we selected no. NEXT




7. The Click Next to generate your keys.




8. Enter your first and last name as well as the email address you want to use with PGP.
   Click Next.




9. Use the default "Diffie-Hellman/DSS" key. Click Next.




10. The default 2048 bit key is sufficient. Click Next.




11. It is advisable to select "never expires". Click Next.




12. Enter a passphrase. You will need to type this each time you decrypt
    an encrypted email. Be sure to write it down and keep it in a safe place. NEXT




13. When your key is finished being generated, simply click Next.




14. Leave the box unchecked and click Next.




15. Click Finish. NEXT




16. When PGPKeys launches, you should see a window similar to the one below.
    In the event that PGPKeys failed to launch, go to your start menu > Programs > PGP > PGPKeys.

17. Find your name and right click it. From the contextual menu choose "Export". NEXT




18. Choose a destination for your .asc (ASCII Key File).
    You will need to email this file to webmaster@nethere.com. Click Save. NEXT




19. Your .asc key should look similar to this.

20. Close PGPKeys.
When you are prompted to save a backup, do so. NEXT




21. Select a destination for your .pkr (Public keyring). Click save. NEXT




22. You will immediately be prompted to select a location for your .skr or
    (Secret keyring file) do so and click Save. NEXT




23. Your Public (.pkr) and Secret keyring (.skr) should look similar to the picture below.
     Be sure to keep these files in a safe place.
